In keeping with our mission, we are dedicated to improving the quality of life for families who are enduring the hardship of breast cancer. Currently, we offer two programs which can provide help and hope.

The Scholarship Award Program (SAP)

When someone is diagnosed with breast cancer, the hardship is unimaginable. Along with the emotional toll the disease takes upon the family, the financial impact can be shattering.  Someone with breast cancer is forced to make tough, financial decisions. Bank accounts dwindle and life savings are often used up for medical or household expenses. Perhaps the family had dreams of sending their children to college or to trade school after they graduated from high school but the disease of breast cancer has smashed those dreams. Nanci’s Gift is committed to help that dream stay alive through the Scholarship Award Program.

Currently, the SAP is open to District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia high school seniors who will be attending institutions of higher learning upon graduation from high school. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 will be awarded annually to selected students who have a parent diagnosed with breast cancer. The Nanci’s Gift Scholarship are continual. Students can be awarded a total of up to $4,000.00 ($1,000.00 per year) providing the student remains in school for four years. If a student chooses to attend a two year college, they are eligible for a total of $2,000.00 providing they remain in school for two years. We also provide scholarships to students attending trade schools. Students must meet certain criteria including submission of an application and essay to Nanci’s Gift to be considered.

The Testing Assistance Program (TAP)

Nanci’s Gift recognizes that while everyone should have the opportunity for affordable health care, many still don’t.  Also, some may have health insurance, it’s not adequate enough. Women (or men) are not getting the tests necessary because they simply don’t have enough money to do so. We at Nanci’s Gift feel that early detection save lives and are  committed to provide assistance for the initial diagnostic testing to rule out breast cancer.

The TAP will offer financial support to women/men in need of diagnostic testing; i.e. mammograms, breast ultrasounds, or breast MRI’s. Support will be given to women/men who reside in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia. This program is open to women/men who are uninsured or underinsured. For more information about applying to the TAP, please contact us at nancisgift@gmail.com.

Our programs are funded through donations. To make a donation to either program please visit our donation page.
