Founded in 2015 by author, motivational speaker, and four-time breast cancer overcomer Nanci Young, Nanci’s Gift is a 501 C (3), governed by a board of directors.  The organization’s purpose is to bring lasting and positive change to patients and families living with breast cancer. 

Breast cancer not only affects the patient, but the family as well. As the patient goes through treatment, the family learns to adjust to the impact the disease is having on them. The mental strain can be overwhelming as they adapt to a new life with mom or dad being sick. And all too often the financial impact on families can be devastating.

We are committed to supporting these families by providing scholarships to students and financial assistance to women for diagnostic testing.

Nanci Young, Founder

Born in New York City and raised in Plainfield, New Jersey, Nanci has called Maryland home for the last 30 years. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1991 and then three additional times in 2002, 2010 and 2013. Nanci says “this is not the journey I would have chosen but it has made me uniquely qualified to speak to others about breast cancer.” She has experienced firsthand what it can do to families and has dedicated her life to helping those affected by it. 

Nanci devotes time working with the newly diagnosed woman and her family, providing support in a variety of ways. Her commitment to helping families led to the founding of Nanci’s Gift. She provides leadership and direction for the organization, raising awareness of the need to support families. Nanci oversees the Scholarship Award Program (SAP) and the Testing Assistance Program (TAP). 

In her first book, My Path to Faith, Nanci describes her journey of living with breast cancer. She shares the very personal experiences of enduring surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and all the challenges of living life on a daily basis while fighting the disease of breast cancer.
